We wanted a timeline for the last 100 years of the club, and I think Lise has achieved that really well. She shows all of the divisions of the club as well as happy revisits to historical events. It was a natural choice to hang the picture in the foyer of Jysk Park, which we opened right after our centennial reception. It was important for the placement to be in a visible location so a lot of people have the opportunity to see it.

We have had some great meetings and given ourselves enough time for immersion, and the conversation it took to be able to include everything. Of course, the book we made for our centennial was a good tool, but Lise from brand-ART has been good at outreach and involving a lot of people in the project. We have been able to supply a lot of good materials, as well as grant access to our archives, so she could get what she needed.

The first time I saw the picture, I was very pleasantly surprised. Honestly, I hadn't expected for that many things to be included, but Lise has managed to incorporate SIF's 100 year history really well. The spirit of SIF and the cultural heritage and values that we represent have been put in the forefront in a really nice way.

During my tours in Jyske Park we always pass by the picture, and I can tell that it creates opportunity for conversation and the joy of recognition. People say "I know him" and "I know her" and "do you remember that time when..". It very much signals Silkeborg Idrætsforening throughout the last 100 years.

We kept the project a secret within a tight circle until we revealed it on the day of the centennial. It definitely made a difference that Lise joined us for the reveal itself to talk about her own reasons for the chosen look of the picture. It was a very positive segment, which gave us an insight into many of the thoughts and processes that preceeds the project. 

Overall a really exciting project, which today we are pleased with and that is an everlasting fond memory on a centennial, which of course was quite a special day.

Back when I was a boy and started in SIF in 1942, there weren't many people who knew who the president was, or who had won or anything. I started getting an interest in the history of SIF and collecting clippings and so on, so I have been working on this for many, many years.

It has taken countless hours, so it's just great that Lise has created this picture because then the things will be preserved at the same time as it shows a lot of the history of SIF.

 

To a club, it is important to keep history alive so it isn't forgotten how much all the old timers meant to the club, and how much they worked. I think that the ones who will follow us will benefit in knowing something about the history, and in that way Lise's picture is an excellent way to tell the story and to make sure that the spirit is passed on to the next generations.

And the picture isn't just about sports, but also about the veteran club, the SIF choir, the friendship club in Arendal, the sauna club, the fan club, saturday club and all sorts of other things. It all has a connection to SIF and and in essence is about community and camraderie, which is the most important thing.
