brand-ART

Lise Thinggaard Larsen founded brand-ART in 2016 and since then she has helped companies, organisations and private persons render visible and anchor their DNA, mission, vision, core values and strategy in "a picture worth a thousand words".

Lise has an educational background in visual arts as well as visual communication, and she has several years of business experience in sales and marketing. She is also a qualified teacher, and for many years she has taught and held courses in visual art specialising in collage and popart. Thus, she is not a traditional visual artist, but rather a "branding artist", hence the the name brand-ART.

Utilising her versatile background, Lise has created a unique competence profile as an artist and process consultant, who has a creative and innovative approach to the strategic work and business development of companies.

Art practice

In brand-ART Lise primarily works on canvas and in terms of genre she finds herself in the tension field between popart, grafitti and collage.

She adds graphic elements to collage materials, supplements with both acrylics, chalk, glue and drawings. It is all then broken  up into smaller fragments in order to be once again, and very deliberately, assembled into a whole new expression.

At first glance you might only notice one single graphic element in the foreground. However, if you take your time, recognisable or perhaps disturbing images and texts will appear and with their own little story they will create the overall great story.

In some instances the work is done in just a few layers, materials and techniques, which opens up a freer and more open interpretation of the piece.

I help companies and individuals render their own compass visible, so in an everchanging world they have an ubiquitous piece of DNA art to locate themselves within.

Because everyone has some DNA and some values to build upon, and there is no need to constantly reinvent the wheel. On the contrary, we must evolve while holding on to the common thread and being aware of our roots.

And my clients are really happy with having their DNA and values rendered visible in a piece of art.

All my life, I have been drawing, journaling, taking pictures and creating collages. Luckily, I have saved it all.

Because when I get lost in my own modern, globalised life and am looking for new directions, I will reach for all my previous productions, which I then use as a compass to navigate by.

With my own eyes, I am able to read and see that all the things I was doing many years ago are connected to the things I'm doing today. It shows me which direction to take in future.

Workshop

In May of 2016 Lise Thinggaard Larsen took over the tenancy of KONGEremisen from DSB in order to create a solid foundation for her growing business.

With great respect for the original building, the old depot was restored and established as brand-ARTs workshop as well as a modern shared work and office space in a rustic and authentic environment.

Today it houses a slew of self employed business owners, who all have communication as their main focus, whether it be graphic design, architecture, music or the arts.

It is no coincidence that brand-ART's workshop is based at this distinguished address. This is where the past meets the present and future. Fully in keeping with brand-ART's DNA-art, which does just that - unites and renders visible history, identity and the common thread.

The moment you enter the historic building, you get a sense of the atmosphere of creativity and storytelling.

In the late 1800s the King's parlor car was reportedly stored here during his visit with the founder of Silkeborg, Michael Drewsen.

The building is from 1871 and through the years it has primarily functioned as a depot and engine shop for DSB.

KONGEremisen is situated in Asger Jorn's home town of Silkeborg with Galleri Moderne and Campus Bindslevs Plads as its cultural neighbours.
